Cinema Ex Verite is about progress.  We want to see it happen, and we pray that God will let us be part of those who will make it happen.   For too long Christian Cinema has been something of a laughing stock within the film community.   There’s no good reason for it.  None.

We want people to stop giving us the benefit of the doubt and start giving us their minds and hearts as we point them to Jesus through engaging filmmaking.  Can you tell me if you’ve honestly seen a Christian film that would’ve been nominated for an Academy Award?  That’s the level of expertise we want people to reach for in the industry.  The Cinematography, Sreenwriting, Producing, Art Design, Directing, SFX, Sound Design and all other factors of film should be of top excellence in the Church’s cinematic arena.  People should enjoy the movie itself because it basis itself on excellent aesthetic choices and execution.

Ambition is not enough.

The world deserves more than half-hearted efforts and patronizing pats on the back.  They have real problems and we have the only answer that will do anything about.  We need to tell stories that engage those problems and deal with them Biblically.  That doesn’t mean preachiness, it means hope.  That doesn’t mean PG movies, it means real movies. And it doesn’t mean settling for being just okay at what we do, it means being the best at every level, to worship our Creator through showing the excellence of his image, the Church, and His sovereignty.
